"Drakken!"

Drakken! Unlike many of my works, 'Drakken!' was created with little 'hint' as to it's under-lying meaning. 'Drakken!' was/is a personal artistic study in color, light, shadow, and creativity. Most of my art contains a struggle, message, or meaning that hints at (but leaves the viewer to decide) any eventual result. In 'Drakken!', the work was created at a point in which I was testing my own desires to branch into use of more diverse (vibrant) coloring with dramatic shadows, while attempting to allow the subject to remain sensual. Albeit, most people may not think of dragons as sensual creatures. Perhaps, that is a portion of the message. 'Drakken!' is a depiction of beauty in strength. In many cultures, the dragon is a creature of evil to be feared or even destroyed. In other cultures, it represents good and prosperity. In any case, the dragon is always respected as powerful. In this specific case, 'Drakken!' is NOT evil. His/Her colors are those of good and of hope. This particular creature has been tested, and has survived. Though 'Drakken!' is 'scarred' with holes in it's wings, he/she is still flying none-the-less. You may notice that 'Drakken!' shields it's soft neck/heart area with a head full of un-yielding spikes. Yet, in contrast, it's mobility is comprised of an entirely flexible body. As 'Drakken!' has no legs, nor feet - it's reliance on it's imperfect wings is imperative. Therefore, 'Drakken!' is, above all, a creature of fortitude. Thus, whatever YOU decide that the work truly represents or what 'Drakken!'s purpose might be.... I hope these insights into his/her background prove helpful. Thank you for your interest in 'Drakken!' and please enjoy! Please feel free to contact/question/comment the artist via :
