This piece is a selfish work. 'Apparition' is a piece about personal growth. By selfish, I mean to
express that the work is about the way in which an individual grows singularly. There are times
when humans grow alone. Although we are influenced by our environs and daily contacts, there
are instances when we discover a new perspective about ourselves by ourselves. Sometimes
it's a very satisfying moment because it generally occurs after a personal struggle. I suppose
it's a triumphant occurrence." This is Jo-Ellen's explanation for what appears in this work. "The
tumultuous sky represents those struggles of surviving. The figure represents a new-found
feeling of self-growth, almost a 'rebirth'. And the tower in the background? Well, it's white.
Kinda like ivory huh?;) The figure leaves her ivory tower behind for the ominous sky to envelop.
That action is often indicative of shedding the burden of ignorance. There are many other 'smaller'
personal symbols in this piece as well, but I'll allow them to remain 'small' for now.". Please feel free to contact/question/comment the artist via :
