Oakdale Sweeps Windsor Knolls

Jayvee: Oakdale 26, Windsor Knolls 25

Windsor Knolls came ready to play and gave Oakdale all it could handle in a game that was not decided until the final whistle. For the second game in a row, Oakdale had trouble finding its groove as they scored eight points in the first quarter. They seemed to be edging away as they led 15 to nine at the half. Windsor Knolls had other plans as they stormed out of the locker room and had the game tied at 17 to start the fourth quarter. From there it was a battle of free throws as both teams were in the double bonus. Oakdale went up by one 26 to 25 with under a minute to go as Taylor McGaughey, who had a game high nine points, was fouled and sank one of two free throws. The game was not over though as Windsor Knolls had several chances for a victory but missed the layups underneath. With just under seven seconds left, Windsor Knolls had the ball and called timeout. They ran a great inbounds play and had an open look at th e basket but it was not to be as the ball rolled off the rim and into the hands of Oakdale as the horn sounded. Erica Buls, Brittany Lease, and Sarah Fossaceca each scored four points for the Lady Eagles. Windsor Knolls was led by Jessica Burke (six points), Devon Joyce (five) and Michaela Rich (4).

Varsity: Oakdale 44, Windsor Knolls 16

When Peyton Carper is determined to get to the hoop, it makes no difference how many enemy defenders stand in her path. In Saturday night's scrum at Oakdale, Carper penetrated at will, and each ensuing drive seemed to be a more dazzling display of speed, body control and soft touch. Windsor Knolls had no answer all night for Carper, 21 points, and Brynn Miller, 15 points, as the Lady Eagles rolled to a 48-34 victory. This season, Miller has likely been the most consistent Lady Eagle. She's a real cool customer, nothing seems to rattle her on the court. Game after game Miller handles the ball like a guard, scores like a forward, and rebounds like a center and her remarkable skills were on display as usual tonight as she and Carper propelled the Lady Eagles to another convincing win.
Windsor Knolls played a quick pace and their good team speed led to several turnovers. But in the end, their shots failed to fall enough to seriously challenge Oakdale. Jackie Taylor, 14 points, and Anna Cholewczynski, 8, led the Hawks scoring effort.

Urbana Sweeps Oakdale

Jayvee: Urbana 32, Oakdale 28

Oakdale fell into an early hole as Tamara Oujeca scored 11 of her 13 points in the first quarter which Urbana led 15 to four. Due to the agressive defense of Jenny Marshall the Oakdale squad could not find their rhythm for most of the game. Normally dominant forwards Brittany Lease (four points) and Erica Buls (eight points) couldn't get their shot to fall, but had strong games underneath by collecting 11 rebounds a piece. It looked as though Urbana would make it a route as the Oakdale squad struggled to find their groove. Even the tough Oakdale trapping defense had problems as Olivia Spahr (15 points) seemed to dribble through it at will. Oakdale trailed 19 to nine at the half, and 26 to 14 at the end of the third quarter. It wasn't until the fourth quarter that Oakdale put something together. The Oakdale girls seemed to gain confidence behind the intense Erika Hollander, who scored six points on the day and was&nb sp;everywhere on the court. Her teammates responded and fought their way back to tie the game at 30. The rally seemed to run out of gas as Urbana scored two relatively easy layups (Ouejeca & Spahr) in the last minute to seal the victory. Urbana avenged their loss to Oakdale earlier in the season and the playoffs are sure to be exciting if these two meet again.
