Shepherdstown Music Info

This page was created when I saw that one could link to a URL from the Back Porch Music Page, (pages seems to have been supplanted by some computer page...) a page I just had just seen announced in rec.music.folk.

3rd Saturdays of the month - February 21, March 21, April 18 - Shenandoah Coffeehouse - See the Shenandoah Acoustic website for more information.

There's an Open Mic every Tuesday evening at the Mecklenburg on German Street, and "Words and Music" on the first Sunday of every month at the same place. (Smoking is unfortunately allowed at this venue, so bewarned.)

Shenandoah Coffeehouse comes to the Men's Club once a month, September through May or so. See the Shenandoah Acoustic website for more information.

Shepherdstown Music and Dance a monthly contra dance on the first Saturday of every month at the Men's Club which is on German St. right next to the little town library.

The Shepherdstown Northwest Morris group has a page.

Every other month or so, one can go over to Reynolds Hall on the Shepherd campus to listen to the taping of the Rumsey Radio Hour, Shepherdstown's answer to Garrison Keillor. The show airs on several dozen stations in West Virginia and other area states. It's been on the air for several years now, and is getting better and better all the time.

The town is also home to the Millbrook Orchestra.

The Upper Potomac Dulcimer Festival is held in Shepherdstown every summer. When I find out the 1996 dates, I'll post them, along with some contact info. You need to register early, as it has become very popular, and the number of participants is limited.
