Archaeology Study of Site 18FR696

Acknowledgments

The investigations of Site 18FR696 are possible only with the advice and hard work of a large number of volunteers.

In particular, Dr. David Foltz, Ms. Stacey Street have provided continuing support for the last several years. David, a professor at Frederick County Community College teaches the introductory course in archaeology. Stacey, a student at Hood College, is the site artist and has drawn illustrations used for publication.

We are also greatly indebted to E.E. Ned and Carolyn Hallein who identified the site as being a valuable resource, and for returning numerous artifacts that they had removed during reconstruction of the kitchen.

We are also indebted to Mr. Ralph Crone and Helen Sullivan and Mary Bussard Kyne for providing an oral history of the site and for helping us to locate specific hidden features. We appreciate the valuable ideas of Mr. Spencer Geasey, Dr. Silas Hurry, and Mr. Patrick Tucker.

Volunteers who helped with the excavations include: Jan Barrett, Lynley Becker, Johnathan Harvill, Vic Metta, Cindy Smidt, Kate Swanson, Adrianne Wahrer, Valarie Wahrer, Nick Wahrer, and Ann Walker.

We also appreciate the Archaeology Students of the Frederick County Community College Classes of 1992, 1995, 1996, and 1997
